Design style

Here are a few ideas that we submitted for the look and feel of our game.

Initially, we were super inspired by the game 'Limbo', a dark gloomy game that Georgia was familiar with. We thought the flat layers and limited colour added an emotional depth to the game. It also meant that our design wouldn't have to be as complex, but would need a lot of effort put into making the game a realistic experience.

Our second inspiration came from the illustration style of a Cartoon Network cartoon 'Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends'. We loved the idea of flat vectors and the quirky, often lopsided, drawing technique. We will put up more images sometime to show what inspired us in this regard.

We decided on a limited palette of colours, mostly tones of green, to compliment the layers and feeling of depth that we are aiming to achieve.

All our characters will be based on the characters in the book and will probably be loosely styled according to the Disney interpretation of the characters. The only thing that we are concerned about is twisting the squeaky clean image of Disney into a more dark and gloomy portrayal of the Peter Pan story.
